" When the Quran is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy. " Quran 7:204
Al-Quran is the eternal miracle. It is the last Book of Allah sent for the guidance of humanity through the last Prophet, Muhammad, peace be upon him (PBUH).
The Quran was revealed piecemeal throughout a period of about 23 years. The Prophet received the first revelation in 610CE, in the Cave of Hira in the Mountain of Light (Jabale-Noor), two and a half miles away from the House of Allah in the city of Makkah in Arabia.
The first revelation was the first five verses of Surah (chapter) Al-Alaq: "Iqra bismi rabbikalla dhi khalaq. Khalaqal insana min alaq. Iqra wa rabbukal akram. Alladhi 'allama bil qalam. 'Allamal insana malam ya’lam, " which means "Read in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clot. Read, for your Lord is most Generous, Who teaches by means of the pen, teaches man what he does not know." (96: 1-5)
The last revelation was the third verse of Surah Al-Maidah, which was sent down to the Prophet in 632 C.E. : "Al yawma akmaltu lakum dinakam wa atmamtu alaikam ni'mati wa raditu' lakumul islama dinan''," which means "Today I perfected your religion for you and completed my favor to you and have chosen for you Al-Islam as your religion." (5:3)
Surah Al-Fatiha (The Opening Chapter) was the first complete chapter to be revealed and Surah An-Nasr was the last.
As Muslim, it is a fundamental belief of every Muslim that Quran is the Last Holy book. It is a complete code of conduct. It is necessary for every Muslim to learn its recitation, to learn its meanings, and to learn its interpretation. The Holy Prophet said: ”The best of you is he who learnt the Holy Quran and taught it to others.” (Bukhari)

Quran provides guidance everyone who strives to learn it.
As Quran says, "verily, in this (book) advice for all who have sight.” (Al Quran)
Everyone who tries to learn its meanings by doing consideration (tafakkar) in it he can easily understand and learn its teachings and it is full of guidance and advice.
The Holy Prophet said: ”The best of you is he who learnt the Holy Quran and taught it to others.” (Bukhari) It is the invitation from Our Beloved Holy Prophet (SAW) to be the best. So every person who wants to be the best he should learn Holy Quran and teach it to others.
The Holy Prophet said: “Undoubtedly, the heart gets rusted like metal gets rusted when water goes over it. The People asked, "How can they [hearts] be cleaned." The Prophet replied, "To remember death in abundance and to recite the Holy Quran." (Mishkat)
The Holy Prophet said: “Whoever read the Quran and memorized it and believed its' Halal to be Halal and its Haram to be Haram [i.e., accepted it commandments of Halal and Haraam], Allah will accept the intercession for such 10 people on from him whom Hell had already become Wajib. (Tirmizi, Ibn-e-Majah)
The Holy Prophet said: The one who has memorized Quran will be told to read and climb and recite with Tarteel (clear and distinct recitation) like you used to read with Tarteel in the Dunya; your place will be where you read your last Ayat. (Bahar-e-Shariat)
The Holy Prophet said: “Learn the Quran and read it because whoever learned the Quran and read it and did Qayam with it is like a bag filled with Musk whose fragrance is spread everywhere and whoever learned the Quran and slept that is he did not do Qiyamul Layl is like a bag which is filled with Musk and its mouth has been closed. The Holy Prophet said: “O People of the Quran, do not make the Quran a pillow, that is do not be lazy and be careless, and read the Quran in the day and night like it is the Haq of Recitation, and spread it, that is, read with good voices or do not take compensation for it, and whatever is in it, reflect upon it so that you may attain success, and do not hurry in its reward because the reward for it is great (which will be given in the Akhirah).
